Carl started his racing career back in 1993 when he was just 9 years old. He started in the Cadet class of karting and gradually gained experience before he moved into Junior TKM Karting where he was extremely successful, becoming both Regional, and National Champion. Over the years Carl has moved up through the karting classes before finishing his kart racing career in Formula A in 2004. In the last few years Carl has not only raced both Formula ICA and Formula A in the British Super 1 Championships, but also has raced in Formula ICA with 3 of Europe’s top karting teams.
Two years ago Carl decided to make the leap from karting, and 2005 was a whole new challenge for him. Having previously only tested a Caterham Seven around Knockhill, Carl was a newcomer to car racing. His goals for 2005 were to win the Scottish Autotrader Mini Cooper Cup Newcomers Cup, and to be on the top step of the podium by the end of the year! Carl achieved both these goals, winning his first race at Kirkistown in Northern Ireland and sealing the Newcomers Cup at Mallory Park in 2005.
In 2006 Carl competed in the Mini Challenge in the S Class. Carl shocked the rest of the grid with a double win on his debut at Snetterton. Carl had another win at Croft and several podiums on the way. Carl finished 4th in the S Class.
2007 was almost a year to forget in the Clio Cup. A series of bad luck and mechanical failures led to a poor championship finish.
in 2008 Carl wan't to be pushing for wins in the championship, and judging by Carl's pace in tests before the testing ban came into force the team believes Carl can be a race winner this year |
