ROUND 1
This was Lee Pattison’s first ever race in the championship and in cars after graduating from karting. Lee Made an impact in race one finishing in second place just behind Oly Mortimer. Having had an excellent start Lee sat behind Shaun King trying to get past for the first few laps.
Lee got past King and chased Mortimer down. He couldn’t catch Mortimer by the chequered flag and finished in second 2.4 seconds behind. His reward for this performance was the fastest lap and new lap record!
Meanwhile, Jake Packun was having a battle a bit further down the order in 8th place with Nathan Coulter and James Blyth. Jake eventually finished in 8th place.
Alex Fergusson arrived at the circuit having not been before. All he did was the short qualifying session on the Saturday. Alex had a god start but unfortunately didn’t finish due to a technical failure.
Coastal Racing’s Club Class competitor Andy Langdell put in a solid performance in his class but got stuck in the pack. He finished 9th in Class.
ROUND 2
Lee Pattison got a good start and was in 4th place on the first lap. By lap four Lee had charged into third position and had his sights on another podium finish. For the rest of the race he tried to reel in Mortimer and Meikle but didn’t have enough time. Third was another excellent result for Lee.
Jake on the other hand, was not having such a good race. He was hit in the middle of the race and put on the grass. He put in some fast times afterwards but he was unable to finish any higher than 14th just behind Jack Stanford.
Alex was hoping to finish race two after retiring from race one. Alex battled with Jason Greatrex and Andy Beever to finish in a respectable 11th place.
Andy aimed to improve on his 9th place in race one and did so coming over the line in 8th place.
ROUND 3
For race three it was an extended thirty minute race with a rolling start. Lee got away from the line well after contact with Stanford. He tucked in behind Meikle in third place.
On Lap 6 he managed to get past Meikle and started to chase down Mortimer. Mortimer was 4 seconds ahead by this point and Lee was unable to catch him.
Jake had a much better race than the other two races. He was in the thick of the action from the start and was involved in a 5 car battle for fourth place. Jake eventually came over the line in sixth position after an excellent race.
Alex finished the weekend on a low. A weekend he would want to forget. He retired with 9 laps to go after a collision with one of the Forster Motorsport cars.
Andy improved on his earlier two performances by finishing ahead of the pack in race three in Club Class. The top four had broken away and he managed to hold off John Bates and Nick Rochez to finish in 5th place in class. |
