Lee and Carl both got good starts but Carl came out on top emerging in 3rd position after the first 2 laps with Lee close behind. As the race progressed Carl managed to get into 2nd place and was chasing down race leader Gavin Bristow. Lee dropped back to around sixt place battling with Arthur Forster, Oly Mortimer and Martin Depper. Steve managed to get ahead of Jake and came over the line in 14th position just in front of Jake in 15th. Lee came over the line in 5th place. MINI Challenge - Spa Francorchamps

ROUND 6

Jake PackunRace One was one to forget for the drivers in Spa.

Alex Fergusson got a great start at the beginning of the race and after the first couple of laps he was holiding 6th position in front of Andy Beever. Fergusson got past Beever but he was hit from behind by another driver and suffered bad rear suspension damage. He managed to limp the car home but was out of the points.

Lee Pattison had another good start and wasn't far behind Alex after the first couple of laps. Lee's car developed a steering problem so his car went well off the pace and he finished the race well down the order.

Jake Packun had the best race out of the three drivers in race one. He had a solid start and battled with the pack to come home in 7th place ahead of Jack Stanford.

ROUND 7

Lee PattisonRace Two was a much better race for the team.

Alex Fergusson was running in 4th place battling with the leaders Blyth, Mortimer and Depper in front. Unfortunately for Alex his engine overheated resulting in cylinder head failure.

Jake Packun had another excellent start. Jake hoped to improve on his strong result in the first race and eventually came home in 7th place.

Lee Pattison had an excellent race. He followed the leaders for most of the race just biding his time to pounce. With a couple of laps to go he got past Blyth and reeled in Mortimer. He was all over Mortimer like a rash. Going into the last corner he went up the inside of Mortimer and was just infront turning onto the start/finish straight. Mortimer somehow managed to get the power down earlier and beat Lee over the line into first position by the smallest of margins. Lee felt that he could've won the race so he was slightly dissapointed with his second place.

MINI Challenge - Oulton Park
ROUND 4

After an accident in qualifying Lee Pattison was to start way back on the grid in 14th place for the first race. He put in a blistering performance passing cars on every lap to finish in 4th position. He finished just behind Peter Budd and was unlucky not to get on the podium.

Jake had been having a nightmare weekend with engine faults on his car. He developed a problem in race one and had to nurse the car over the line into 13th position.

Alex had an excellent start and was right in the middle of the battle for 8th place with Jack Stanford and Andy Beever. He battled right until the end of the race and came home over the line in 8th position.

Andy had a race to forget. Having started off well he was involved in an incident which put him on the grass and he managed to keep hold of the car and bring it home in 11th place in class.

ROUND 5

Lee had to start from the back of the grid, just in front of Stanford for race two. He only got one fast lap in the qualifying session before he had the accident. He had an extremely hard race ahead of him.

He managed to charge his way through the race and bring the car home in 7th place.

Jake wanted a good result to make up for his bad luck through the weekend. Jake had an excellent start and for the majority of the race was in 4th place harassing Peter Budd. It looked inevitable that Jake would pass Budd but unfortunately he tried to pass and made a slight mistake and finished the race in 6th. Jake was rewarded with fastest lap for his efforts.

Alex had another solid start and battled throughout the race with Stewart Lines and Gavin Bristow. After a race long battle he came home in 10th position just behind Bristow.

Andy had an excellent start in the Club Class. He put in some good times and finished in 4th position in Class. This was his best result so far this year. We hope to be seeing him on the podium soon.

MINI Challenge - Snetterton

ROUND 1

This was Lee Pattison’s first ever race in the championship and in cars after graduating from karting. Lee Made an impact in race one finishing in second place just behind Oly Mortimer. Having had an excellent start Lee sat behind Shaun King trying to get past for the first few laps.

Lee got past King and chased Mortimer down. He couldn’t catch Mortimer by the chequered flag and finished in second 2.4 seconds behind. His reward for this performance was the fastest lap and new lap record!

Meanwhile, Jake Packun was having a battle a bit further down the order in 8th place with Nathan Coulter and James Blyth. Jake eventually finished in 8th place.

Alex Fergusson arrived at the circuit having not been before. All he did was the short qualifying session on the Saturday. Alex had a god start but unfortunately didn’t finish due to a technical failure.

Coastal Racing’s Club Class competitor Andy Langdell put in a solid performance in his class but got stuck in the pack. He finished 9th in Class.

ROUND 2

Lee Pattison got a good start and was in 4th place on the first lap. By lap four Lee had charged into third position and had his sights on another podium finish. For the rest of the race he tried to reel in Mortimer and Meikle but didn’t have enough time. Third was another excellent result for Lee.

Jake on the other hand, was not having such a good race. He was hit in the middle of the race and put on the grass. He put in some fast times afterwards but he was unable to finish any higher than 14th just behind Jack Stanford.

Alex was hoping to finish race two after retiring from race one. Alex battled with Jason Greatrex and Andy Beever to finish in a respectable 11th place.

Andy aimed to improve on his 9th place in race one and did so coming over the line in 8th place.

ROUND 3

For race three it was an extended thirty minute race with a rolling start. Lee got away from the line well after contact with Stanford. He tucked in behind Meikle in third place.

On Lap 6 he managed to get past Meikle and started to chase down Mortimer. Mortimer was 4 seconds ahead by this point and Lee was unable to catch him.

Jake had a much better race than the other two races. He was in the thick of the action from the start and was involved in a 5 car battle for fourth place. Jake eventually came over the line in sixth position after an excellent race.

Alex finished the weekend on a low. A weekend he would want to forget. He retired with 9 laps to go after a collision with one of the Forster Motorsport cars.

Andy improved on his earlier two performances by finishing ahead of the pack in race three in Club Class. The top four had broken away and he managed to hold off  John Bates and Nick Rochez to finish in 5th place in class.

MINI Challenge Spring Cup – April 15th
Mallory ParkThe Spring Cup was created this year to help novice racers in the Mini challenge gain extra signatures on their licenses in time for Spa in June. At Spa, a National A license is required to compete. The team had 3 drivers out for the Spring Cup. Andrew Langdell competed in the Club Class. Lee Pattison and Jake Packun competed in the S Class.

All 3 drivers had good qualifying sessions, resulting in Lee
Pattison being on the front row of the grid for both races. Lee won race one ahead of Peter Budd. There was confusion at the end of the race. Neither driver had seen the chequered flag so continued battling. Budd out braked himself and had a nasty accident going into the hairpin. Lee was delighted with his race win on his debut in the Mini Challenge. Jake Packun finished race one in third place after battling with Stuart Lines. Andrew had a good battle with Sarah Parsons and came over the line in first position.

Race Two was quite the opposite of race one. Lee got a great start and led for most of the race. Jake battled with Stuart Lines as he did in race one. He was in the middle of a sandwich going into Gerrards and it ended in misery. He went into the tyres but carried on, only to retire on the next lap due to a damaged radiator. Lee retired from the race in the closing stages with suspension failure caused by an incident at the start of the race. Andrew again battled with Sarah Parsons in the Club Class but this time came over the line in second after an excellent race.
